Property Management and Financing


It’s never too early to address property management and finance issues when real estate is involved in probate. The first consideration is the current status of the property: vacant or occupied. If vacant or occupied by a renter, someone needs to manage the property and espcially so if you, the Petitioner, live outside the area.

Even if you live locally, dealing with renters requires knowledge of the numerous legal issues involved. Property management services can vary from minimal to comprehensive. Interim and Permanent Financing

As family member or beneficiary, you may be entitled and desire to keep the real estate for yourself or a family member to live in or rent out for income and tax benefits. However, you still need cash to pay immediate expenses: creditors, taxes, insurance, utilities and, to close probate, your attorney. We can assist you in finding Interim financing, including the entire costs of probating the estate, without having to sell the property. Interim financing can be expensive, but may be the best option to retain the property. When title is transferred we can also help arrange permanent, conventional financing.
